According to Belichick, Tim Tebow is a good passer

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Bill Belichick is very good at bending the truth. Wednesday was no exception.

When asked if he was surprised at Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow's success despite Tebow's suspect mechanics, the New England Patriots coach argued that Tebow is a "good" passer.

"I don't agree with any of that. I think his passing is good," Belichick told the media. "It was good in college; he was a very productive passer in college and he's thrown the ball well in this league. Throws it good short, throws it intermediate, can throw it deep. He's got some very good throws, as good as anybody that you want to put in there."

According to Belichick, Tebow can make all the throws, even though Tebow is often seen overthrowing dumpoffs and wheel patterns and out-throwing open go-routes. Tebow has certainly improved a bit, but he's completing less than 50 percent of his passes and is pretty much awful throwing the ball until the very end of games when teams are on their heels.

"He can hit them in the pocket; he can hit them out of the pocket," Belichick said. "There are plenty of examples of both."

With Tebow up against the worst-ranked defense in the league this week, maybe Belichick will be proven right.
