Tight end Scott Chandler was ruled out of the Buffalo Bills' road game against the San Diego Chargers Sunday.
Bills coach Chan Gailey told the media Friday that Chandler's ankle injury, which he acquired last weekend against the Tennessee Titans, would keep Chandler out of action for at least a game. Chandler sat out of practice all week because of the injury.
Earlier in the week, Gailey said Lee Smith and Mike Caussin would rotate snaps in filling in for Chandler, with Lee taking on more of the blocking responsibilities and Caussin being used more as a receiver.
"I know that can’t always take place," Gailey said Wednesday of using the tight ends to their strengths. "Mike’s got to block some and Lee’s got to go out some. You try to be smart at how you do that."
Chandler will miss out on an opportunity to face the team that picked him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft.
