Five weeks ago, the Miami Dolphins were 0-7, and the Buffalo Bills were 5-2.
Now, the teams are just a game apart, which begs the question: Could the Dolphins (4-8) finish the season with a better record than the Bills (5-7)?
The teams still have to face one another in Buffalo in two weeks. That one could go either way. The Dolphins, however, beat the Bills by a 35-8 margin three weeks ago.
Dolphins' remaining schedule: vs. Philadelphia Eagles (4-8), at Bills (5-7), at New England Patriots (9-3), at New York Jets (7-5).
Bills' remaining schedule: at San Diego Chargers (4-7), at Bills (5-7), vs. Denver Broncos (7-5), at Patriots (9-3).
It's hard to say which schedule is more favorable, but the way the Dolphins are playing and Buffalo's descent in confidence, Miami certainly has a chance to do the unlikely and finish its climb out of what was a five-game last-place hole in the division.
