Who will be covering LeSean McCoy Sunday?
According to Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano, "Everybody."
The Dolphins host the standout running back and the Philadelphia Eagles in a battle of two 4-8 teams that have underachieved for most of the season, though the Dolphins have won four of their last five and are headed in the right direction.
They'll need a strong defensive performance to keep momentum, as the Eagles boast a dynamic offensive attack anchored by McCoy. Quarterback Michael Vick will also make his return in Miami after being sidelined the last few weeks.
"They have a very good offense regardless of where they are record-wise and their whole situation with the team," Dolphins linebacker Jason Taylor told the media Thursday. "They’re a darn good football team. Everybody knows that. For whatever reason they haven’t won as many games as they would of liked. When you put them on paper, on tape and watch them play they’re very, very talented. They’re loaded. It’s our job to try to stop them. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ll get it done.”
McCoy has 12 rushing touchdowns and three receiving scores this season, having already gained 1,134 yards on the ground and 227 through the air. The Dolphins have the fifth-ranked rushing defense in the league, giving up an average of just over 93 yards a game.
"We faced other good backs this year and played pretty well," Taylor said. "And this will probably be our best test so far. We look forward to it.”
As for Vick, Taylor said not getting "embarrassed" by the elusive signal-caller is key, adding that players have to expect to look "dumb" against Vick every once in a while.
