Tim Tebow-to-John Elway comparisons have been eye-rolled all season. Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey isn't afraid to go there.
The Bills, losers of seven straight games, are slated to host Tebow and the Denver Broncos Saturday. The Broncos are 7-2 with Tebow calling signals quarterback.
"All it is is a continuation of what he did in college," Gailey told the media Tuesday of Tebow's recent success. "I was with a quarterback that was like that in Denver myself, John Elway. The whole game plan was, 'Keep it close and let’s go watch John tie it or win it in the fourth quarter.' And it happened more times than it didn’t."
Gailey served as an assistant coach for the Broncos when Elway, now the Broncos' VP of Football Operations, was calling signals in Denver.
"When you get a guy like that that has that kind of confidence, the team has confidence in him and it just tends to happen," Gailey said of Tebow. "He’s made it happen. You’ve got to get him credit for that."
