Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has struggled the second half of the season, but so has his entire team.
The Bills have lost seven straight, with the latest defeat coming Sunday at home against the Miami Dolphins. Fitzpatrick tossed two touchdowns to three interceptions in that game, a week after throwing two picks and no scores while completing 38 percent of his passes against the San Diego Chargers.
Despite Fitzpatrick's drop in play since signing a $59 million contract extension during the team's Week 7 bye, he's still the Bills' franchise guy, at least in the eyes of coach Chan Gailey.
"I've lost zero confidence (in Fitzpatrick)," Gailey told the media Sunday.
In the midst of another lackluster performance, Fitzpatrick was the center of boos from the crowd at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
"I hate it for Fitz. I hate it for the fans," Gailey said. "Everybody’s not playing very good right now. That’s what we’ve got to turn around. We were playing extremely well early and now we’re not playing anywhere near as good.
"We’ve all seen him do it. We’re a league of what have you done for me later. We’re a society of what have you done for me lately and we haven’t done well lately so they’re going to boo him and me. That’s who they’re going to boo."
