Shonn Greene gets better by the carry.
The New York Jets' third-year tailback has spent his young career starting off slow and finishing strong, putting up his best performances late in games and in the playoffs.
He barely passed the half-thousand mark in yards his rookie season but put up two 125-plus yard, touchdown games in the postseason, and he scored the game-clinching touchdown last season against the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round of the playoffs to help the Jets to their second straight AFC Championship Game berth.

Greene didn't do much early this season, but he's done a whole lot as of late. He has four rushing touchdowns over the last two games and is coming off a 129-yard rushing, 58-yard receiving day against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. Greene found the end zone three times the week before against the Washington Redskins.
"He’s almost running like a bellcow now," Jets coach Rex Ryan said with a smile Friday. "We’ve been predicting it or talking about it, but now he’s getting the carries. I think when he gets the carries, his game elevates.
"It’s that time of year when, sometimes, your big backs, while maybe some of the backs are wearing down a little bit, he’s wearing down defensive guys. I think that’s always a good thing."
Greene has just eight rushing attempts after he's touched the ball 30 times in a given game, but two of those carries were for touchdowns, and he's averaging nearly 10 yards per touch on those attempts, which means he stays productive when everyone else is worn down.
