After the Miami Dolphins blew out the Buffalo Bills last month, Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell was quoted in the Palm Beach Post saying Buffalo "laid down" in the first half.
To quote Ace Ventura: "Now you've pissed him off."
Ventura's talking butt aside, the Bills didn't take kindly to Bell's words and have a little extra motivation to pay back the Dolphins for the 35-8 butt-whooping the Bills were handed.
"I think the fact that they got their win and they beat us which is obvious," Bills receiver Stevie Johnson told the media Wednesday. "Then you go out in the media afterwards and talk about being soft and this and that. ... Any other team comes out and gets a win nobody’s saying anything. You do your job and that’s it.
"They felt the need to come out and say stuff that’s really irrelevant and started a little fire in me and hopefully it did with the people around me, so I’m looking forward to playing this game and coming out with an attitude."
Bell's choice words weren't the only thing that got to Bills players the last time the teams met. Multiple Bills pointed out several instances in which the Dolphins were partaking in "extracurricular activity" following plays.
“You turn on the film and you can see guys taking cheap shots and it sticks in your craw," Bills safety George Wilson said, according to BuffaloBills.com. "You don’t like to see that. And if you watch that and don’t have a problem with it and think that’s fine with guys getting hit in the back of the head then you shouldn’t be on this team.”
The Bills host the Dolphins Sunday at 1 p.m.
