After a devastating loss to the Giants, the Jets enter Week 17 preparation needing a win and help from three other teams.
Jets coach Rex Ryan, however, was optimistic during team meetings Monday.
"It was positive. It was hopeful," Jets defensive tackle Sione Pouha told reporters via conference call. "We gotta have some things that gotta kind of work our way, but the best thing we can do for ourselves is go out and get ourselves a win, and it starts with preparation and practice this week.
"But he was very optimistic about us going out there, not optimistic about (Saturday), but more about how we prepare this week, and we can get better and bounce back from this loss."
The Jets will be up against a Dolphins team that has been playing everyone tough as of late, so beating them will be just as difficult as the other scenarios playing out in their favor.
"We always know when we play Miami, they’re a great team, they’re going to be well-coached," Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez told the media after Saturday's loss. "That rivalry is intense. They always play with a lot of passion and this week will be no different whether they’re playing for the playoffs or not.
"They want to beat the Jets and we want to beat the Dolphins. That’s the way it goes. It's going to be a good challenge, it's not going to be anything easy down there, so we’re going to have to play well."
