'09 game vs. Pats was Rice's 'fondest NFL moment'

BY NICK ST. DENIS

No need to ask the question. Rice will ask it for you.

"If you want to ask me if that was my fondest moment in my NFL career, yes it was," Rice told the media Wednesday, referring to the Ravens' 33-14 Wildcard victory over the Patriots in 2009.

Rice rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns that game, including an 83-yard touchdown scamper on the game's first play from scrimmage. The teams will square off Sunday in the AFC Championship game.

"Obviously, stats matter, but when you can do something that special in a playoff game in another team's stadium, that was huge," Rice said. "And that's something that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. And obviously, we didn't go on and win the Big Dance, but playoffs are … It separates everybody.

"There's a reason why there's only four teams, and there's only one true champion at the end of the year. But when you can do something special in the playoffs, it's definitely remembered. And, that's something that I'll definitely take with me for the rest of my life."

Baltimore's latest playoff win over New England sparked a little streak of Foxborough playoff woes for the Patriots. The Patriots fell to the Jets the following year in the Divisional round, again, at home.
