Season over for .500 Jets after falling to Dolphins

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Jets entered Sunday's bout with the Dolphins needing a win and lots of help. Turns out, the Jets couldn't even help themselves.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions as New York fell to the Dolphins, 19-17, in Miami.

The Jets finished the season 8-8 by losing its last three games. 2011 marks the first season Rex Ryan didn't record a winning record as a head coach.

With the disastrous play as of late, Gang Green is in turmoil.

"It's my responsibility, I'll shoulder the blame," Ryan told the media after the game. "8-8 was not where we were trying to get to. We have to look at every aspect of our team, and ask ourselves how we get better."

The Dolphins, on the other hand, won six of their last nine games and gave linebacker Jason Taylor a warm goodbye, as Taylor is set to retire. Taylor played with the Jets in 2010.

"It was a good way to end this thing," Taylor told the media after this game. "To beat your No. 1 rival, to beat the Jets in your home stadium, in your last game, after 15 years. You know, I can't complain."
