A billboard with the words "Manning to Miami" below an altered picture of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in a Dolphins uniform has been put up on Miami's I-595 by a group of fans. They may be hoping to exert the influence the Denver billboard campaign in favor of Tim Tebow seemed to have on the Broncos' decision to start him over Kyle Orton.
The billboard was set up in conjunction with a website, ManningToMiami.com, that seeks to collect names in support of signing the four-time NFL MVP if and when he becomes a free agent.
Despite four surgeries to repair a damaged nerve in his neck and the fact that he'll be 36 years old when the season starts, many Dolphins fans see Manning as a risk worth taking to be at least a short-term reprieve for Miami's quarterback woes.
Miami hasn't had a reliable solution at the quarterback spot since Dan Marino retired in 2000. There have been 16 different starters under center since.
