Bills general manager Buddy Nix said Buffalo will address its cornerback situation this offseason, and the Bills got started in that department Monday.
Free agent cornerback Stanford Routt visited One Bills Drive to take a physical and meet with members of the Bills' coaching staff, according to BuffaloBills.com.
“It was a good day,” Routt told reporters Monday afternoon. “I got a chance to go and see the city a little bit, see the staff, meet a few of those guys and I like the atmosphere around here.”
The 28-year-old started for the Raiders the last two seasons, leading the team in passes defensed both years. He also recorded six interceptions in that span, so he'd fit right in with Buffalo's ball-hawking secondary.
Entering the 2012 season, the Bills look to bolster a middle-of-the-pack pass defense while improving its porous pass rush.
"Obviously everybody can be better except for the one team that went to the Super Bowl," Routt said. "But the sky is the limit because you can clearly see that there are the right pieces here in place.”
