Philbin, Dolphins meet with Manning in Indianapolis

BY SEAN DONOVAN

Peyton Manning met with Joe Philbin an members of the Dolphins' coaching staff Monday evening, according to a report by ESPN. The meeting took place in Indianapolis, where Manning has spent his entire 13-year Hall of Fame career.

The report said the meeting lasted between five and six hours and was strictly about football topics, continuing Manning's aversion to actual contract negotiations. One source described it as a "good meeting."

Media outlets have reported that Manning's decision will come later in the week, much later than Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET start of free agency. It is expected that the four-time NFL MVP will also hold a similar meeting with Titans head coach Mike Munchak and his staff in the next day or so.

It is unclear whether Manning plans to speak with other teams, though no strong reports indicate that there are any more than four contenders to sign him. Manning has already met with the Broncos and Cardinals.
