Dolphins' Marshall discusses personality disorder

BY SEAN DONOVAN

Dolphins wide reciever Brandon Marshall appeared on "CBS This Morning" Thursday to discuss a number of subjects, including his battle with borderline personality disorder.

Marshall, who is undeniably one of the elite talents in the NFL, has frustrated fans and front offices alike throughout his entire career because of his wavering focus and off-the-field issues.

Marshall talked with Gayle King and Charlie Rose about how his disorder and the problems it caused came to a head last offseason, when his wife was charged with stabbing him in an April 2011 domestic incident. He spoke about his seeking of therapy and the people he has helped by bringing awareness to the disorder.

His wife joined him in studio, perhaps to be a symbol of his progress in repairing relationships damaged by his problems.

Among the other subjects he spoke about were the 'bounty' scandal that has embroiled the Saints, to which he shrugged off by saying, "You know what, it's football."

Marshall also commented on the release of Peyton Manning and how he would feel about playing with the future Hall of Famer. He said that it would be a "privilege" to play with Manning, but gave a nod to incumbent Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore.

"We have a quarterback under contract," Marshall said. This response was a little subdued and politically correct in comparison to his remarks after his Pro Bowl MVP performance, when he said, "You don't want to take anything from Matt, but I think we really need to bring in somebody to compete and make the team better."
