Ex-Dolphins' Marshall accused of punching woman

BY SEAN DONOVAN

After it was announced Tuesday that the Dolphins had traded star receiver Brandon Marshall to the Bears for two draft picks, details of yet another extracurricular incident involving Marshall came to light.

According to KSDK.com, a woman accused Marshall of punching her in the face at a nightclub in Manhattan. The alleged incident occurred at 4 a.m. Sunday morning. Marshall had spoken at a charity event earlier in the night.

This is the latest in a career of off-the-field issues for the three-time Pro Bowler and might have pushed Miami's hand in accepting a trade offer. Fans and front offices alike have grown weary of Marshall's baggage.

The Bears announced that they were aware of the incident before completing the deal. Chicago had reportedly been inquiring about a possible trade since the NFL Combine in late February. Chicago gave up two third round draft picks in the deal.

"Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend," Bears general manager Phil Emery said in a statement. "We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear."
