Former Giants receiver Amani Toomer thinks Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez's days as a starter are numbered.
"I don’t see Sanchez being the starter the entire season," Toomer told the Star-Ledger Monday during an appearance at an NFL event in New York.
Toomer added that Sanchez "is not a great quarterback. I don’t think I'm at a stretch for saying that." Bold statement, Amani.
Toomer thinks Tim Tebow, the Jets' new backup and option signal-caller, will dethrone Sanchez by the end of the 2012 season.
"...no matter what happens, in the fourth quarter, he (Tebow) is there to make plays and win games, and there is something to be said about that," Toomer said. "I think the Jets realized that when it happened to them in Denver, so I think they’re fully believing in him."
As expected, many media pundits and fans are putting more heat on Sanchez with the arrival of Tebow. Sanchez, whose four road playoff wins is tied for the most of all NFL quarterbacks in league history, has remained quiet through it all.
