Report: Pats in 'no rush' to retain veteran D-linemen

BY NICK ST. DENIS

The Patriots will be getting younger on the defensive front in 2012.

33-year-old defensive lineman Mark Anderson, who had 10 sacks for New England last season, signed with Buffalo.

New England still has yet to retain 32-year-old defensive lineman Andre Carter, who also recorded 10 quarterback takedowns a season ago. And according to the Boston Herald, the Patriots are in "no real rush" to re-sign him.

Also, free agent defensive tackle Gerard Warren, 33, and defensive end Shaun Ellis, 34, are likely done as Patriots, as each player tallied just one sack last season.

The Patriots have two late first round picks (Nos. 27 and 31), both of which will likely be used on defensive linemen.
