Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was the only NFL signal-caller to rush for as many or more touchdowns as the Jets' first and second-string quarterbacks in 2011.
Mark Sanchez rushed for six touchdowns last season as the Jets' starting signal-caller, and new Jets backup Tim Tebow found the end zone six times on the ground last year, as well, taking snaps for the Broncos.
Newton scored 14 touchdowns on the ground as a rookie, and the next quarterback behind Sanchez and Tebow in rushing touchdowns was Josh Freeman with four.
Sanchez added 26 touchdown passes, which was ninth-best in the NFL, and Tebow tossed 12 touchdown passes in the regular season and two more in the playoffs. He also ran for a touchdown in the postseason.
Under hard-nosed offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, the Jets will return to a run-heavier offense, which should make for an interesting situation at quarterback with two of the best quarterbacks at finding the end zone with their legs.
