The Patriots have been on a signing spree of veteran offensive players this offseason, and they're reportedly continuing the trend this weekend.
New England plans to sign free agent running back Joseph Addai, according to the NFL Network. The Boston Globe confirmed the sides have come to an agreement, though the terms of the contract are undisclosed.
Addai, who has been injury-riddled since making the Pro Bowl in 2007 after winning a Super Bowl with the Colts, was one of three free agent running backs to visit with the Patriots a few weeks ago. New England also played host to Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower.
Addai has accumulated 39 rushing touchdowns in six seasons, adding nine scores via pass receptions.
He'll join a running back corps that parted ways with BenJarvus Green-Ellis but has put stock into second-year tailbacks Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley. All-purpose back Danny Woodhead rounds out the group.
