Former New York Jets offensive tackle Wayne Hunter had an all-time brutal campaign as Gang Green's starting right tackle the last 12 months.
Hunter needed to get out, and the Jets were more than willing to provide that service. Midway through the preseason, New York traded Hunter to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for draft bust tackle Jason Smith.
"No words describe it," Hunter told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch of what it's like to play in the New York market. "If you can handle the 'Concrete Jungle,' you can handle anywhere. I've been through it all."
Hunter was the subject of never-ending negativity from the media and Jets' fan base because of his on-field struggles.
"They're like sharks," Hunter said of fans in New York. "If they don't like you, they let you know right off the bat. And even if you're doing good, they might just not like you for the heck of it. It's brutal over there.
"Those fans, they know what they want, and they pretty much demand it. So if you don't give it to them, they'll let you know."
Hunter and Smith are both backups/swing tackles as of now, so the pressure is off... for now.
