Moss's insight to 49ers on New England: 'It's cold'

BY DAN BEGNOCHE

To play in Gillette Stadium in December is one of the toughest tasks for a road team in the NFL.

So it's no surprise that San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith would look to teammate and former Patriots star Randy Moss for some pregame advice. After all, having a locker next to Moss has been a "dream come true."

The answer, however, may not have been as thorough as Smith expected. (photo: Steve Glass, Flickr)

“He said it's cold,” Smith told reporters Wednesday via conference call.

Foxborough may be cold, but the Pats are red hot. Winners of its last seven, New England is coming off a game that most (we) thought would be a its biggest challenge of the season. Instead, the Patriots made an example of the Houston Texans on primetime television to the tune of 42 points and a 28-point win.

But Smith has been sizzling as well, putting up insane numbers in only his second season in the pros. The Missouri product has tallied 19.5 of the team's 32 sacks, surpassing J.J. Watt for tops in the league.

“Everybody knows that Bill Belichick is a so-called genius, and he changes it up every week, so there's not very much input I can give for the week,” Moss told reporters Wednesday. “I just said, 'have your head on a swivel and be ready for anything.'”
