When the 2012 season commenced, most signs pointed to Reggie Bush's exit from South Beach.
But according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, neither the Miami Dolphins nor the impending free agent have initiated the break up. (photo: Reggie Bush, Flickr)
Salguero reported Friday morning that the Dolphins had contractual conversations with Bush's agent, Joel Segal, "in the last week."
The Dolphins have high hopes for the potential of tailback Lamar Miller, who showed some encouraging flashes in 2012 during his rookie season. The thinking was likely that Miller and his explosiveness could serve as the 1a option out of the backfield with the underwhelming Daniel Thomas working in short-yardage situations.
Miami could also still bring in help via free agency or the draft, or perhaps expand the role of special-teamer Marcus Thigpen -- all of which would be cheaper than re-signing Bush.
Miami isn't looking to give Bush a massive payday, so while they'd like to have him back for his skillset and leadership qualities, it'll be their way or, well, I-95 North.
