The Miami Dolphins have been compensated.
Monday, the NFL awarded 32 compensatory 2013 draft picks to 16 teams, and the Dolphins were the only team in the AFC East to receive any. (photo: Marques Stewart, Flickr)
Miami gained an additional pick in the fifth and seventh rounds, boosting their total number of picks to 11.
Teams are given the compensatory picks based on some formula involving the difference between the number of free agents lost and gained in the previous offseason. That's as specific as I'll get. Hit up Google for details, if you must.
According to the Dolphins' website, they've received 17 compensatory picks since 1995.
