Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has accepted the fact that he's bound for a backup job.
Now, he's just looking for one. (photo: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Flickr)
The NFL owners meetings are currently taking place in Phoenix, Ariz., a half-hour drive from Fitzpatrick's hometown of Gilbert, Ariz., and Fitzpatrick is using the situation as an opportunity to sell himself.
Fitzpatrick reportedly met with Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis Sunday night in addition to higher-ups of the Tennessee Titans.
"I’m kind of at a crossroads right now," Fitzpatrick told BuffaloBills.com last week. "I don’t know if there’s going to be a starting job out there that I can compete for or contend for. If there is, I’m certainly willing to do it.”
Fitz would back up Andy Dalton in Cincy if he were to sign there. In Tennessee, Andrew Locker would begin the 2013 season, or at least training camp, as the No. 1 until he coughed it up to Fitzpatrick, which is more likely to happen with the Titans than the Bengals.
