Rex Ryan was talking tattoos again, but this time it wasn't about his own.
While speaking with the media Saturday, the New York Jets coach threw out some names of those who stood out in the team's second day of rookie camp.
One of them was safety Rontez Miles out of Cal U in Pennsylvania, who impressed Ryan the day before, thanks to his aggressiveness on the field and special teams prospects.
Not all of Rex's thoughts on Miles were of the positive variety, though.
"I don’t like his tattoo. He has a Pittsburgh Steelers tattoo," Ryan quipped, via Brian Bassett of TheJetsBlog. "Obviously, it could be worse, it could be a Patriots tattoo, but he does have a Steeler one. We’re going to have to fix that."
Miles, who grew up in Pennsylvania, would likely have no problem with that if he made it through the summer with the team. He'll be battling with a slew of defensive backs for a spot on the roster, a group that includes recently acquired veteran Dawan Landry.
Ryan is partial to smart safeties, as well as guys who can deliver punishing hits, and he said that once Miles can combine the two parts of his game together, he'll be one to watch out for.
"I think mentally, if he gets it down mentally and when he gets it down mentally, that’s going to let his physical talents stand out, which obviously he has a great deal of," Ryan said. "But he is a hitter. There’s no question. That’s what we know on film and it will be interesting how quickly he will pick things up."
In his senior season with the Vulcans, Miles tallied 75 total tackles, four interceptions, and two sacks, according to the school's website.
