Thursday, Sanchez was asked about Smith's comments. Sanchez took took the high road.
"I have no idea," Sanchez said. "You have to ask Steve, but I wish him and his team a healthy and successful season."
Sanchez is in a quarterback battle that has essentially been narrowed down to two competitors after David Garrard opted to retire this week, citing his nagging knee injury.
If the incumbent starter Sanchez beats out rookie Geno Smith for the starting gig (and hangs on to it through the middle of December), he'll take on Smith's Panthers Week 15.
