Tebow brings out the non-Belichick in Belichick?

BY NICK ST. DENIS

Bill Belichick isn't one to talk specifically -- or at all -- about a player who isn't on his team or isn't facing the New England Patriots within the next six days. And his usually airtight organization rarely has internal members anonymously feeding gasoline to the media fire.

But apparently the almighty Tim Tebow has a different effect on people.

Belichick was recently asked by ESPNBoston.com about his feelings on the free agent Tebow just weeks after a report by Yahoo! Sports stated "Belichick 'hates' Tebow as player." In response, Belichick didn't opt for an answer of the "next question" variety. (photo: Todd Shoemake, Flickr)

"I wouldn't get into the probability of us pursuing any free agent," Belichick said. "Every single player has strengths and weaknesses but regardless of that, for anyone to have represented that is the way I feel about Tim Tebow is completely untrue, baseless and irresponsible. It is unfortunate that something so inaccurate was reported."

WEEI's Christopher Price wrote Thursday that the manner in which Belichick addressed the question was "out of character," and NFL.com's Albert Breer pointed out that the timing of the thing is noteworthy with Belichick's good friend Urban Meyer reportedly spending time with Tebow last week.

That, or everyone is just splitting hairs and blowing things out of proportion because it's only the first week of June and Tebow is, well, Tebow. Yeah, probably that.
