Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker was carted off the field Sunday after taking a hit from New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson.
Wilkerson hit the third-year signal-caller after Locker released a throw in the third quarter of Gang Green's ugly loss. Locker, who also took a little shot from Jets defender Quinton Coples on the play, never returned to the game due to a hip injury.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league is "considering" fines for Wilkerson and Coples.
"They didn't throw a flag," Wilkerson said after the game, via ESPNNewYork.com. "The ref told me it was a clean hit. I took my one step and that was that."
Wilkerson was at full speed as Locker let go of the football, so it's hard to imagine he could have avoided contact. The interpretation of his intentions as he lowered himself is up for debate. Coples came in after Wilkerson but turned away a bit once Wilkerson was on his way down. Still, he gave a little shoulder in the process.
Locker will reportedly miss four to eight weeks with the injury.
