AFC East power rankings roundup: Week 11

SEAN DONOVAN

When one media outlet ranked the New York Jets dead last in this season's initial power rankings, one player called it "the ultimate slap in the face" and surmised that "there's a personal vendetta against the Jets."

That same outlet now has New York occupying the 12th spot in its rankings after an idle week, giving a small measure of vindication to a team expected by most before the season to be among the league's worst. The Jets will look to solidify their hold on the sixth and final playoff spot on the road against the Buffalo Bills, who continued a slide down the rankings after a Week 10 loss.

The Miami Dolphins have plunged into mediocrity after handing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their first win of the season, and the idle New England Patriots moved up a notch ahead of a Monday night showdown with the NFC power Carolina Panthers.

Here's where the four AFC East teams stand in the major media outlets' NFL power rankings entering Week 11:

      NE    MIA      BUF    NYJ
