Jackson: Players responded well to being called out

BY NICK ST. DENIS

After the Buffalo Bills were embarrassed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago, some calling out was in order.

Guard Eric Wood and running back Fred Jackson let it be known throughout the week that the team wouldn't stand for certain players giving less than an honest effort.

Sunday, the Bills responded with a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars that was meaningless in the standings but meaningful in the locker room.

"I think it’s about guys being out there and going through the motions," Jackson told WGR 550 Monday, via BuffaloBills.com. "After the Tampa game guys were going to get called out that were seen doing that. Guys showed up this weekend."

Jackson, however, won't be satisfied unless his teammates finish the season with the same intensity.

"That has to be the case from here on out," he said. "We’re being evaluated every time we step on the field. To go down and get embarrassed in Tampa we had to go show up in Jacksonville. Guys did a tremendous job responding.

"Hopefully we can continue to play well. That has to do with just guys showing up, preparing, playing hard every play."

Buffalo's next and final two dress rehearsals are divisional bouts with playoff contenders the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.
