The reach of Aaron Hernandez's alleged ties to gun trafficking and the murder Odin Lloyd has crept into the locker room of the Miami Dolphins. Or at least, it's pulled someone out of it.
After being subpoenaed following the team's Week 8 loss on the road against the New England Patriots, Dolphins center Mike Pouncey reportedly testified to the grand jury in Hernandez's case Wednesday, the reason for his absence from practice.
The Miami Herald cited a league source Thursday as confirmation for Pouncey's whereabouts, though the trip doesn't look like it'll get in the way of the 24-year-old starting Sunday's rematch against the Pats.
Pouncey, a former teammate of Hernandez at the University of Florida and alleged close friend afterward, was brought in regarding his potential knowledge about illegal activity Hernandez may have been linked to, namely the movement of illegal weapons.
It's unclear at this point what role Pouncey's testimony will have in moving forward in Hernandez's trial.
