Kellen Winslow served a four-game suspension in 2013 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
His most recent substance predicament, however, is more of the real-life variety. Well, sort of.
The veteran tight end, who spent last season with the New York Jets but is slated for free agency in March, was recently charged with possession of synthetic marijuana, according to the Daily Record.
At his preliminary hearing Wednesday, Winslow was accompanied by an attorney from Colorado, where possession of marijuana is now legal. For whatever that's worth.
The 30-year-old, however, was allegedly caught with the drug in November in New Jersey by East Hanover police, though the criminal complain wasn't filed until the end of December.
"We are aware of the situation," Jets spokesman Bruce Speight told the Daily Record. "This is a pending legal matter and we will have no comment."
Winslow hauled in 31 catches for 388 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games with Gang Green. He's not expected to return to the Jets, so there's really no comment needed.
