As of Thursday night, the Miami Dolphins were seemingly down to two finalists for their vacant general manager position.
As of Friday afternoon, that list might have gotten a little longer.
The Dolphins brought in New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio for an interview Friday, as first reported by Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald. It was the first meeting of the two sides.
Caserio is an intriguing prospect, given his age (38) and experience as a top executive in one of the most successful franchises of the last decade. It doesn't hurt that he's an in-division guy, either.
Miami was reportedly interviewing its finalists this weekend, which by most accounts was narrowed down to Dolphins assistant general manager Brian Gaine and Tennessee Titans executive Lake Dawson.
Later Friday, Gaine was reportedly given a second interview, and Dawson is expected to get another crack at it by the end of the weekend. Caserio could be brought back in for a follow up, as well.
The Dolphins, who remain the only team in the NFL without a GM, seem to be close to a decision, and with many of their prospects pulling their names out of the hat over the last week, Miami may want to just give it to a willing participant as soon as possible.
