Virgin America and Geno Smith are buddies again. At least publicly.
A week after the New York Jets quarterback exited a flight to prior to takeoff in Los Angeles, the result of an incident and reported "verbal altercation" with an on-board attendant, the airline issued an apology to Smith.
"After a full review of the incident, we believe it was the result of a misunderstanding that regrettably escalated unnecessarily," Virgin America said in a statement, via NewYorkJets.com. "We’ve apologized to Mr. Smith for his experience, which could have been better — and we’d welcome him back onboard any time.

"As an airline that prides itself on our guest service, we take incidents such as this one very seriously."
According to Newsday, the ordeal began when Smith was asked to take his headphones off. Newsday's source said Smith didn't initially hear the attendant's request, words were exchanged and the attendant went on to remove the headphones himself. Smith then asked to speak to a supervisor and later left the airport.
Virgin didn't offer its own explanation in the statement of what happened, but it appears both sides have reconciled. Thank goodness, as we were worried sick.
"I really appreciate that Virgin America took this seriously, looked into this matter and followed up with me,"Smith said. "I look forward to flying their airline again soon."
