While the Buffalo Bills have been fairly active during the free agency period thus far, not much has materialized in the way of some wide receiver depth.
That may change by week's end.
Six-year vet Kenny Britt, who finished up yet another visit to Western New York this week, told Mike Rodak of ESPN.com that the decision now about whether to sign with the Bills is not about the numbers, it's a personal one.
"Throughout this weekend, me and my wife [are] going to sit down and we’re going to talk about it and what’s actually best for us and me mentally as I go through this process," he said. "Hopefully the next three days."
Unfortunately for Buffalo, they're not the only team in the division on Britt's short list.
The 25-year-old also visited with New England earlier in the week, and although he wasn't able to hook up with coach Bill Belichick during his short stay, things seemed to have gone quite well nonetheless.
Both teams struggled last season with injury issues at the position, and Britt could be a bargain pickup given his dreadful output in 2013.
After posting back-to-back 700-yard receiving years early on in his career, Britt has since struggled. Injuries and multiple suspensions have kept him off the field, which culminated into a 96-yard season last year that saw the former Rutgers star haul in only a third of his targets.
Britt will likely sign a one-year prove-it deal when he decides on his next location, which could be beneficial to his suitors if he can get his act together and show he still can be productive. In his prime, Britt averaged 18.5 yards a catch in Tennessee back in 2010; only LeGarrette Blount averaged that yardage with New England last year, and nobody on the Bills squad was as productive in 2013.
