Last offseason, the New York Jets weren't willing to give cornerback Darrelle Revis $16 million per year, but the the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were.
So with little hesitation, the Jets dealt the All Pro defensive back for a first round draft pick, which Gang Green turned into Defensive Rookie of the Year Sheldon Richardson.
Apparently, Revis wouldn't hesitate to come back.
The Bucs are prepared to trade or release Revis by Wednesday afternoon, and the Jets, who just released Revis' former perimeter partner in Antonio Cromartie, are potential suitors. And according to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News, Revis would "love" to return to his old digs.
"Emphasis on 'love,'" Mehta tweeted.
The Jets missed out on two of their top free agent targets in cornerbacks Alterraun Verner and Vontae Davis. With Aqib Talib reportedly close to a deal to stay with the New England Patriots, the Jets' options aren't plentiful.
Earlier this year, Cromartie seemed open to a return at a cheaper rate if he didn't garner much interest on the free market. That's probably a more likely option than Revis, though there isn't an infinite number of capable starting cornerbacks available.
