Reports Tuesday had sources optimistic New England Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson would be ready to roll come training camp.
A chat with the man who knows about foot surgery firsthand on Wednesday, however, has things right back where they started -- uncertain.
"I don’t know, it’s hard to say," Dobson told Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe. "I’m taking it one day at a time, rehabbing hard, just to get back out there as quick as I can."
The surgery has kept the 22-year-old sophomore wideout out of organized team activities thus far, and missing a summer's worth of work could seriously impede his progression in what's typically referred to as the most important season for a young pro.
After a full year's worth of work last season where he started nine games, appeared in 12 and tallied more than 500 yards receiving, however, the youngster is nonetheless feeling much more at home this offseason than last.
"Coming into this offense, it was definitely a lot, a lot thrown on a rookie’s shoulders to do, but I think I handled it pretty well, coming into my second year feeling more comfortable so I just have to build off that."
