The Miami Dolphins are looking for a little more from wide receiver Mike Wallace this season--specifically in the pass-catching department.
But the veteran wideout is willing and able to stretch himself beyond the offensive depth chart if the team needs him to.
“I don’t want to run down on kickoff team," Wallace said recently, via The Miami Herald. "But if I can return a little bit, I’ll do that.”
Wallace thinks his big-play abilities could provide a boost to the Dolphins through special teams.
"I feel I could bring a spark to the team if I get back there on special occasions," he said. "Not every play but every once in a while I feel I could make a spark. I could take one or two to the house.”
We'll see if Joe Philbin subscribes to the idea when the season rolls around. First things first, though, Wallace needs to get himself on the same page as quarterback Ryan Tannehill, as no contribution on the third unit would justify his big-money contract unless he makes a bigger impact running routes in 2014.
