The Buffalo Bills have boasted one of the more imposing one-two punches at tailback the past few years--when healthy--between the powerful Fred Jackson and speedy C.J. Spiller.
“Run, run and more run,” defensive end Cameron Wake said this week, via MiamiDolphins.com. “This week may be a little different type of game, but at the end of the day you’ve got two tremendous football players, guys who can definitely when they get the ball in their hands eat up a lot of yards in one play."
On the backs of Jackson and Spiller, Buffalo boasted the second-ranked rushing offense last year. The Bills opened the 2014 season last week on the same pace, amassing 193 yards on the ground in an overtime victory over the Chicago Bears.
Both Bills tailbacks are explosive, though they pose different challenges. Spiller's world-class breakaway speed makes it a necessity for the second and third levels of the defense to stay well-positioned and extremely disciplined, while the 33-year old Jackson's toughness puts tackling at a premium for the opposition.
“You can’t really prepare for just one thing," linebacker Jelani Jenkins said. "You’ve got to prepare for two different game styles and they both come in and they make big plays. And they both know how to make you miss and they both are explosive and both have their own strengths.
"And then also the O-linemen and how big they are and how aggressive they are, it makes it into a great running offensive team."
