The New England Patriots announced Saturday they have signed rookie linebacker Deontae Skinner to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
In a corresponding move, the Patriots released linebacker Darius Fleming.
Skinner, 23, was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Mississippi State in May. The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder was released by the Patriots on at the end of August and signed to the practice squad on the first day of September.

He played in 47 games with 35 starts over his four-year college career and finished with 202 total tackles.
The 25-year-old Fleming, who signed with the Patriots in May after being originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fifth round in 2012 out of Notre Dame, spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons on injured reserve with a knee injury and was inactive last weekend.
