Recently fired New York Jets coach Rex Ryan told CBS last week that it was head coach or bust in 2015.
He has no plans accept a coordinator job and would likely find himself on the TV screen for at least a year if he didn't land a lead job with a team.
Ryan is taking a short step closer to his initial goal.
The six-year head coach, who was fired Monday, is reportedly slated for interviews with the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers, who parted way with Mike Smith and Jim Harbaugh, respectively, this week.
Ryan would be a pretty solid fit for Atlanta, which has some lethal weaponry at receiver and a better-than-average quarterback in Matt Ryan. With the addition of maybe a running back, the offense would be set.
He could bolster the team's bottom-feeding pass rush, among other weaknesses on the defense.
Ryan, however, interviewed with the Falcons in 2008 but was passed on. Maybe he has better luck with owner Arthur Blank this time around.
According to the NY Daily News, Ryan met with ESPN executives Tuesday to discuss a possible on-camera gig--an environment he would easily thrive in.
