The New York Jets may have their guy in mind, and their guy may have his guy in mind.
In the wake of the mad rush of news that the Jets were high on Doug Marrone, Gang Green has reportedly placed Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn atop their head coaching prospect list.
Quinn interviewed with the Jets last Friday, and Fox Sports senior NFL reporter Alex Marvez told the Dan Patrick Show Thursday word on the street leads him to believe Quinn will be the Jets' next head coach.
According to TheJetsBlog.com, Marvez said 'Quinn has already started reaching out to assistants on other teams for coaching opportunities with the Jets.'
One of those assistants is Kyle Shanahan, who left his post with the Cleveland Browns Thursday morning. That came after it was reported by Jason Cole of Bleacher Report and Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com that Quinn would try and bring along Shanahan as his offensive coordinator should Quinn land the Jets' head coaching job.
Shanahan, however, is still interviewing with the Buffalo Bills, and Quinn has already interviewed with the Bills and three other teams.
Also, Quinn's window for interviewing and accepting a job is closed until the Seahawks drop out of the playoffs, which very well means he could be unavailable until the Super Bowl on the first day of February.
