With Shane Vereen likely to hit free agency (thanks in part to his apparent high financial hopes), the New England Patriots are undoubtedly eying potential replacements for their pass-catching, third-down back.
Two of those prospects, Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah and Miami’s Duke Johnson, have kept a keen eye on Vereen and could see themselves in his old role, according to Patriots.com. Both are at the NFL Scouting Combine this week.
