Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel may be getting a visit from a New York Yankee in the near future.
Newly hired head coach Rex Ryan spoke about his quarterback's mobility on The Howard Simon Show recently, an aspect of Manuel's game that was lacking in 2014 prior to his benching. Manuel averaged five carries per game his rookie year but only three in his five games last season.
Ryan would like to see those numbers go up, significantly.
"The one thing I think we need to embrace and he needs to embrace is he can move," Ryan said. "Use your legs. Sometimes when it’s not there use your legs and know how to protect yourself and get out of bounds, sliding and things like that."
Ryan also discussed teaching Manuel some sliding technique, similar to what he had Joe Girardi help Mark Sanchez with when Sanchez was in New York.
We'll see if Joe makes the trip to Western New York or sends Brett Gardner instead.
