Big-name free-agent signings always come at the price of some roster trimming. In the Buffalo Bills' case, that meant another move at the tight end position.
While the team continues to vie for Charles Clay, they cut 30-year-old tight end Scott Chandler Wednesday, according to buffalobills.com. Chandler, who's been with Buffalo since 2010, tallied more than 2,100 yards receiving in his time with the Bills, though an increase in drops and ineffectiveness in the red zone were key pieces to his overall productivity the past two seasons.
With Chandler cut and Lee Smith inking a deal with the Oakland Raiders Tuesday, the Bills depth chart at tight end currently consists of Chris Gragg, MarQueis Gray and Chris Manhertz.
Clay visited Buffalo Wednesday, and he'll reportedly leave with a substantial offer sheet to take back to Miami. The Dolphins would then have five days to match the offer.
