Willie Colon's career with the New York Jets is not over, contrary to much speculation by the media since the end of the 2014 season.
The Jets announced Thursday they've re-signed the veteran guard, who returns on a one-year, $870,000 contract, according to Brian Costello of the NY Post. Colon signed a one-year deal around this time last year, as well.
Colon, soon to turn 32-years-old, started all 32 games the past two seasons with Gang Green and has been particularly solid in the running game. The former fourth-rounder in 2006 (Pittsburgh Steelers), however, had a problem with false starts last year.
He's the starter by default, though the Jets signed James Carpenter earlier this week, and third-year linemen Oday Aboushi and Brian Winters, as well as second-year Dakota Dozier, are in the mix.
