Safety Aaron Williams may be the only sure thing for the Buffalo Bills at safety coming into this season, but he still hasn't seen any action.
Following offseason surgery, the 25-year-old has been absent during OTAs and minicamp, at least in a physical fashion.
According to his coach, however, Williams' starting role is safe, and he's on track to return for training camp.
"Aaron should be ready to go," Rex Ryan said via BuffaloBills.com. "He’s sitting in there in the meetings, and it’s tough for some positions. Like Leodis (McKelvin) will come in and play corner like it’s nothing. But playing safety is a more challenging position mentally and the communication part of it and all that.
"With Aaron not being able to go we’ll see how it goes. He seems to be sharp and I’m looking forward to seeing him on the field."
In the interim, the Bills' defensive backs have had some "real positive plays" in his absence, according to Ryan, with multiple pairings being tested out as they head into their final day of minicamp Thursday.
