Louis Delmas' injury woes have come back to haunt him, and the Miami Dolphins now have to replace their starting strong safety.
The seventh-year defensive back went down during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers Wednesday, and the 28-year-old will miss the season with a knee injury, according to the Palm Beach Post.
"He's a great teammate, a great guy," safety Reshad Jones said. "It's bigger than football. I just went to make sure his mind is right and say a prayer for him."
Third-year safety Michael Thomas is next on the depth chart for Miami, but it's been Walt Aikens taking the snaps with the No. 1's at strong safety when Delmas has been out.
Expect Aikens and veteran Reshad Jones to be paired together come Week 1, barring any further injuries.
