The New York Jets will be without guard Oday Aboushi for their home opener against the Browns in Week 1, as the 24-year-old was handed a one-game suspension Thursday by the league, according to NJ.com.
The punishment stems from a January incident in which Aboushi was pulled over and found to be in possession of "a very small amount of marijuana," according to his agent.
Although the team has been aware of the incident since it happened, the suspension doesn't bode well for the young lineman, who is far from a shoo-in for the 53-man roster. His is, at best, the backup at left guard behind James Carpenter, as Dakota Dozier has also taken second-team reps at that position.
